The Two Airport Lounges of NAIA Terminal 3 Compared – and How to Get in for FREE!

posted in: Airport Lounges | 8

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post about how to enter the three airport lounges of NAIA Terminal 1 for FREE: just because you’re flying with a budget airline doesn’t mean you need to have an entirely budget experience. Cebu Pacific Air, the Philippines’ biggest airline, together with another huge player among the country’s budget airlines AirAsia, both fly out of Manila Airport’s NAIA Terminal 3 for their international routes. Luckily for budget travelers, Terminal 3 also has airport lounges which you can enter for free – if you have the right credit card.

Here’s an excerpt from my previous post on why you would want to enter an airport lounge:

In case you were wondering what all the fuss is over airport lounges, consider this: Instead of looking for a vacant seat at the crowded boarding gates (at any of NAIA’s terminals), you can wait at a more comfortable area with cable TV, reading material, an exclusive washroom and possibly even a computer to use and shower! (Taking a shower at the airport – at least to me – is one of the most pampering, luxurious, best-things-in-life-are-free moments you can have, especially before a long-haul flight!) Instead of spending on overpriced but inedible airport (or budget airline) food, you can actually have all the warm food, snacks and beverages you want – at no additional cost. Since you have to show your boarding pass upon entry, most lounges also offer a ‘boarding call’ service where their staff personally approach the guests when it’s time for boarding. No risk of missing your flight there! Being able to use a lounge is basically getting to experience the first half of flying Business/First class (before the flight), despite flying coach. Now it’s possible to use the lounge by being a Business or First class passenger, paying a fee upfront or spending a lot on your credit card, but it’s better if you could get inside, every time you have an upcoming trip, completely free and with no strings attached. Wouldn’t you agree? 🙂

There are only 2 airport lounges at NAIA Terminal 3, as opposed to 3 in NAIA Terminal 1. Both are located one level higher after clearing immigration and security, beside the exclusive lounges for Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines. Unlike two of the lounges at NAIA 1, both lounges at NAIA 3 do not have PCs or a business center for guests to use.

Skyview Lounge

The less exclusive airport lounge between the two at NAIA Terminal 3 is the Skyview Lounge. Only half the lounge is allotted for credit card holders, while the other half is reserved exclusively for Emirates and ANA Business Class passengers. In addition, this lounge accepts A LOT of credit cards for free entry, which has its pros and cons. Although the Skyview lounge is less exclusive and is the farthest lounge from the elevators based on the current floor plan of NAIA 3, it is more reliable since it is open 24 hours while the other lounge is not.

On the plus side, it appears there are more sockets available in this lounge. There's one found under every table beside each couch.

Pacific Club

On literally the other end of the airport, we have the Pacific Club which is the home lounge of Delta Airlines and KLM. I find that the interior design of Pacific Club is much better than Skyview Lounge. Specifically, Pacific Club looks more like an airport lounge while Skyview Lounge looks more like the waiting area of a posh hospital. (I love Skyview Lounge since they’ve always been there for me, but sadly it’s true.)

They have LOTS of TVs.

They have cereal and fresh fruits!

The food is usually much better than what is pictured here.

Overall, Pacific Club is definitely the better lounge and anyone should select it over Skyview Lounge given the chance.

Thank you for the info! Excellent site. With regards to the Pacific Club and Citibank Prestige card, are you allowed to bring in a companion? Are you sure that AUB Platinum cardholders are allowed access to the Pacific Club?

About AUB Platinum, the Pacific Club staff informed me about it although I didn’t see any material from AUB at the reception of the lounge.

Being that these lounges are past immigrations, would I still be able to access it if I’m on a domestic flight with Cebu Pacific?
